Photoshop help.

Anyone who is good at photoshop, or just knows how things work, can you answer 1 simple question for me?

its a very stupid question but ive only been using photoshop for about 2days and i have taken no tutorial, well ive tried, but they just dont work for me.

question: i have an object (a line) in say layer (a) and i want to move that line into layer (b), how would i do that?

^^see its a very stupid question^^

sorry i wasnt sure where to post this, i hope its in a good place?? i got shouted at by owenshooter for asking it in general discussion.

Select your line with the Rectangular Marquee tool. Right click, Layer via Copy. Then go over to your Layers palette, select layer (b) and the newly-created layer, right click, and select Merge Layers.
