just curious....Is the Map Foundry Overloaded?

No Offense to those that are truly Attempting to submit Good Work And Suggestions, and No Offense to the moderators Or this Fanatastic Site.....BUT....

I Think The Map Foundry Should Be Shut Down.... As in No NEW Ideas Or Posts.....Lock it off.
Those that are actively in development should be Judged and If Passed Continued. the Quality should be No less than Acceptable to The Majority of the voters AND ALL OF THE MODERATORS. When THose Maps get Quenched.... You Wipe The MAP Foundry... And Archive all the ideas that have ENOUGH Feedback in to their COMMON Posts (Periodic Table With All The Other Periodic Posts) And Keep them Locked......

I Feel This is needed To Improve Quality OVER ALL.... We Don't Need A Bunch Of thoughtless Maps From those that dont agree with Feedback and Want What They Want and Not whats best For The Game.
Also, It would also make it easier for the community to vote and give proper feedback on Maps if there are no more than 10 At A Time. And Give those creators a time limit Per Stage Of Progression. For Example. A week for Concise Idea And Draft... A Month For Second (Finished Looking) Draft For Feedback Of Graphics And Playablility... A month for 3rd Draft & Votes... A Month to Submit Finished Map Based On Feedback...Then Straight to XML - Playtesting - Etc. These Are Maximum time Limits - Of Course If There are circumstances...TUFF SHIT You Had A Bloody Month. If you Missed A Deadline Post A Request To Continue, If someone else wants to make the map Original Cartographer Must Be Sent A Message For The OK and Has A Month To Respond, If No Response Then They Let The Idea GO.

sorry this is a horrible idea.

if you don't like a map then you don't play it.

things are going fine here. It might be a bit slow but there's ups and downs in the foundry. I can honestly say that the foundry is always progressing.

I somewhat agree with your sentiment that the foundry is busting at the seams, especially in the Map Ideas forum. It is difficult to tell what is moving along, and what is not.

However, I believe that your solution is more than extreme. I also believe the deadline approach defeats the stated purpose (i.e. "I Feel This is needed To Improve Quality OVER ALL"). Rushing people through the map-making process will in fact attenuate, not improve, the end quality. A "bloody month" goes by much more quickly than you realize, and people cannot be expected to meet such harsh requirements for an activity that is voluntary and fun. Back to the drawing board with this idea.

Best,

Its look that you have some wrong informacion abouth Map Foundry, map makers create map because he love to make map,and we are not pay for these job,so you can not force people to work in maps 8 hours on a day,to finish map in these time limit.

You have definetly drop the ball with this.

Forst and foremost you say that the foudnry is bursting at the seams which is reducing quality, yet you cant even post in the corect forum showing you dont know the first thing about the foundry, this your post adding to the busting foundry. The new map productino system set up when me and oaktown joined in january (along with help from coleman) has increased the quality of every map that moves through the system. While you think that imposing a time limit for map making is absurd, we make maps for our own enjoyment, we do lack the favour not the other way about.

So hears my suggestion, spend time it the map foundry next time before you want to propose such a stupid idea.
What do you know about map making, bitch?

The Foundry is not overloaded in the way that it's causing decreasing quality. Yes, some mapmakers have to wait longer for comments to appear on their threads, but what gets Quenched is top notch.

I hate deadlines.

Sometimes, I can do an entire update in a day, other times it takes me two weeks cause I am either lazy or its just a big update.
Forcing a time limit would make the map quality WORSE because maps would get pushed into the next stage of creation even if they are not ready.

this thread is stupid and useless.

i think he is onto something here.

how dare those map makers want what they want, lock those threads down. but not Keredrex's, obviously he knows what is best for the Game.
Keredrex wrote:Also, It would also make it easier for the community to vote and give proper feedback on Maps if there are no more than 10 At A Time.
so true, so true, 8 maps just wouldn't be enough to vote on and 11 is way to many. 10 is just right.

now these are great ideas but i don't think these changes go far enough. with the foundry locked down and only 10 maps in production at a time we will need a place for potential map makers to go while they wait for a vacancy. you know, somewhere where they can receive positive/negative feedback from the CC community and generally improve their map to the stage that it can qualify to be a part of the top 10.

we could call that forum the forum formerly known as the foundry but if that name is too long we could just shorten it to a squiggly little symbol.

i know! wtf?
at first i thought it was going to be a Pynchon excerpt.

there may come a time when the foundry process begins to break down...
but it is not now.
the foundry hasn't significantly changed in a long time.
so if it's overloaded, then it has been for quite some time.

lol i AGREE tOo

of course it shouldnt be shut down, what are you on??

without new maps it would be monotonous, and nothing new would happen apart from the odd suggestion and update, if you dont like the map foundry, dont go there.

go and post this in the suggestions and bug reports forum and see what you get there
