Allow Clan tags to appear beside user name

Concise description:

Allow users to enter a 1-4 character clan tag in their profile. This would then appear in front of their user id like so: [Clan]Grifter or (Clan)Grifter

Specifics/Details:

Xbox Live allows this
Would need a way to enforce this ie. a user would have to actually belong to a clan to use the tag

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:

A cool way to shout out to the community
Can show what group you belong to

With the vast proliferation of signatures proclaiming clan membership, is this really...useful?

I was unfamiliar with a script for it, but, that doesn't derail this as a suggestion. Clickables is an example of an idea for everyone that was initially available as a script.

I'm unsure what real benefit showing clan next to user name has, but I can't see it as harmful, either.

Maybe a good way to do it is to have a block that the user could fill in (a pulldown with his available groups) that way, a member who is in a social clan that's important to him or her can have that show in lieu of a warring clan. This would limit the need to "enforce" and eliminate programming problems that could occur when a clan was a war clan and is now a social group (such as Eternal Empire).

With this idea the clan tag would appear on the forums as well as in games. The script shows clan tag in one place only.

that script is ok but you need to click it all the time and it is out of date it still shows players like great ollie as a mm member when he is the pack for 3 months now.
