Age of Merchants bonus question

Hey y'all, please help me out with this:

If you hold both resources on an island but neither the factory nor the market on that same island, can you still get the "market on another island" bonus if you have a port on the first island and a port and market on another island?

I believe so. You will receive 2 troops to each market it connects (so you will need a port "departing" from the bonus pair and a port "receiving" that has a market on that continent)

So if you have resource pair Wine and Rum on the yellow island but you do not hold the market there you need a port on the yellow island and a port on an island where you hold a market. For each port and market connection you will get +2

It's confirmed. You do get the bonus in that situation. I'm in a game rn and just took the two resources on an island where I don't own the market (or factory), but have a port there and a port on another island where I own a market and see that I'm getting the bonus.

yep indeed as long as you can get the goods to the market i.e. the 2 ports connecting you can sell at that market just a bit strange that you are not also selling at the closer market but I guess you can mark up the goods for the travel costs at the foreign market
