As far as simple, for the most part it still but I have tweaked a few roles. It's a bit more complex than originally intended but I still think it's fairly simple.

As far as deadline, since I stupidly forgot to include what the deadline would be I am actually setting it to Thursday (around 10 PM EST) instead of Wednesday.

I suppose with 8 players, some sort of delayed Alien appearance might be too difficult for the mafia to win with. They probably need the night kills.

I mean, I honestly keep coming back to the character list, I just don't see a lot of room for fake nameclaiming. Certainly, some roles may be more likely to be anti town, but apart from the Alien, it's pretty difficult to say for certain whether there would be anyone else who is part of the same mafia faction.

I suppose that follow the cop potentially could be a viable strategy, although I get this nasty suspicion Ash could be some sort of mafia roleblocker. Maybe a town traitor roleblocker?

I would not do that. Ripley is an Ace compared to Kane who would be two of spades.

I can't see a real argument that a name claim doing more harm than good, other than it exposing perhaps some of the more power roles. However, the mafia would be rooted out particularly quickly as there will be some obvious counter-claims. I do think it is a bit of a cop out considering the limited character selection in terms of playing mafia properly, but if the rest of the players would like to go down this road I am happy to oblige.

We are taking it for granted that with a limited amount of crew and players there is only so much that can be claimed.

We are also assuming that the game we are in will play out like the movie? We have no idea who has been infected with an alien let alone it will be Kane. Kane died first in the movie. Whos to say Ripley is not the first to die tonight?

You seem to be fighting it hard IB. A name can tell us many things. Counter claims can be tested (due to roles), and we can use process of elimination to actually CLEAR a few townies right off the bat. I'm going to take a swing and say that most characters here are characters from the ACTUAL Alien movie. So with name claims we can cross off the main characters and look more at the suspicious ones.

However, according to the scene flavor, Kane is already dead. Therefore, who is the last player supposed to be? Could be the cat I suppose.

Also, we have to wonder at whether Ash would be considered a townie or not.

And of course the 8th being the Alien. But I can see 6-7 people insta-cleared with simple name claims :/

Well, we can't really say yes or no until we see names start coming up, now can we?

I mean, we could definitely try to play it out standard on Day 1, but I think that the Alien is one of two things.

Either it's a SK player that kills someone every night, possibly aided by someone else.

Or it's a cult recruiter type.

A massclaim may be dangerous on Day 1 because we don't know what the Alien could be, perhaps we should delay that to Day 2 to see whether we have any nightkills/ scene flavor.
