TO; Qualify, WC 2010 - CONMEBOL [Qualifiers on PG 1&8]

Here it is - once in a lifetime chance to lead your favourite national soccer team to
World Cup 2010 in South Africa! What makes it so unique? You are the Coach and the faith of your team is in your hands. Do you know your team enough? Are you ready to pick a stadium that fits your team? Do you know your players enough and know which positions they should play? Are you clever enough to make strategies that will lead your team to victory and leave others nothing but their sweaty shirts and muddy boots?

Winner of World Cup 2010 will be awarded with
6 months premium!

To win the award, you first need to qualify in one of the 6 regions and then win the final tournament. For the prize, lets say thanks to Lack.

This tournament will consist of 7 different parts: 6 Qualifying Groups (1 for each region) and the final - World Cup 2010 with all the teams (coaches) who proved in the qualifying rounds that they are worthy to represent their country and team in South Africa.

6 Qualifying Groups will be lead by separate organisers (referees) at the same time and though there are several referees then the tournament is still one and the same (one referee can't whistle all the matches ;) ).
After all 6 Qualifying Groups have finished their games, there will be one last challenge. World Cup 2010 games and only one Coach is good enough to lead his/her team to victory - to be the Soccer Champion of the World in 2010.
We're trying to keep it as real as possible to World Cup 2010, so all the teams, formats and groups are very similar to everything that is actually in real life.

6 Qualifying Groups (click on region to get more info):

Africa (CAF) {referee: amazzony}
Asia (AFC) {referee: jennifermarie}
Europe (UEFA) {referee: amazzony}
North, Central America and Caribbean (CONCACAF) {referee: MarVal}
Oceania (OFC) {referee: jennifermarie}
South America (CONMEBOL) {referee: amazzony}
Tournament Tables and"RESERVE-POOL" {referee: MarVal}

Game settings
- all games will be 1v1, Standard, Sequential, No Fog
- each Coach picks his/her team, home stadium (map), players' formation (fortification) and playing strategy (cards)
- each region has its own qualifying system and number of teams

Points (like in real soccer)
- 3 points for winning a game
- 0 points for losing a game
- 1 point for a draw (Draw = game goes longer than 10 rounds)

Yellow and Red Cards
Yellow Cards:
- not joining a game in 48 hours after notification
- 2 Yellows = -1 point
- 3 Yellows = -2 points
- 4 Yellows = -3 points

Red Cards:
- 2 Yellow cards for not joining a game -> Disqualification for 1 match
- 5 Yellows = Red Card -> Disqualifying from the tournament
- Alliance (secret or not) -> Disqualifying from the tournament

Tie Breakers

1. Head to Head matches
2. Goals

Interested in joining? Keep in mind following things when signing up:
1. Required Premium - depends on region;
2. If you are premium then you can pick up to 4 teams (but they need to be in 4 different regions);
3. Pick a team from the list who you want to coach;
4. Pick your home settings: Map, Cards and Fortification.

Big thanks to Kahless who came up with this tournament idea at the beginning. Though he decided to leave the site and abandon his tournament, we (6 TOs) decided to pick up the great idea, tweak it a bit (16 pages of discussion in Tournament Organiers Usergroup) and bring it to you. Enjoy!

You just had to pick a team from one of the smallest groups so non-prems couldn't get your spot :P

My apologies for not starting with it yet. I had some real life issues that didn't give me enough time for concentrating on this site.

I'm here now and I'll start first bunch of games in the next 4-5 hours.

I must appologise again, I swear, there are some evil soccer Gnomes out there who stop me from starting with this :lol:
Anyway, I'll start making the games right away and all PMs will be sent out in an hour.

This is how it's going to be.

Each player needs to play 2 games a week (you'll play with the same person 2 games - your home map and his home map). I'll make the games probably on Monday. I'll also send you a PM when new games are made so you don't have to worry about checking this thread. Though I don't mind if you drop by time to time and glow with your great results or just bump this thread with some North American soccer talk :lol:

I'm sorry for the delay and hopefully now on we will have no troubles :)

Good luck everybody and may the best teams get to World Cup 2010 South Africa!

Your referee,
amazzony

Goals

About the goals "for" and "against":
- The goals "for" are the earned points when you win the game.
- The goals "against" are the lost points when you lose the game.
- And by a drawn nobody gets goals "for" or "against".
