Glad you're able to see the funny side, PR.

US doctor describes witnessing starvation in northern Gaza

Sam Attar reckons he left part of his soul in Gaza. It was the part of him that saw suffering and could not turn away. The part which now cannot forget.

It's been three weeks since he came home to Chicago but it might as well have been yesterday. The faces of that other world are with him: Jenna, the traumatised little girl wasting away, spectral pale on a hospital bed, while her mother shows Sam a phone video of the child's last birthday. Happy days before the disaster.

Then there was the man in his 50s, forgotten in a room, having had both legs amputated.

"He had lost his kids, his grandkids, his home," Sam recalls, "and he's alone in the corner of this dark hospital, maggots going out of his wounds and he was screaming: 'The worms are eating me alive please help me.' That was just one just one out ofā€¦ I don't know, I just I stopped counting. But those are the people I still think of because they're still there."

The last trip - his third into Gaza since the war began - saw him join the first team of international medics to be embedded in a hospital in northern Gaza where malnutrition is at its most acute.

The mission was organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) which has warned of looming famine. Some 30% of children below the age of two are reported to be acutely malnourished, and 70% of the population in northern Gaza is facing what the UN calls "catastrophic hunger."

Last month the UN Human Rights chief, Volker Turk, accused Israel of a potential war crime because of the food crisis in Gaza.

"The extent of Israel's continued restrictions on entry of aid into Gaza, together with the manner in which it continues to conduct hostilities, may amount to the use of starvation as a method of war," he said.

Sam Attar remembers the 32-year-old woman admitted suffering from severe malnutrition, with her son, and her mother and father in the room with her.

She underwent CPR - attempts to resuscitate the heart - but could not be saved.

"I had to call it," Sam says. The young mother lay on a bench, her left arm dangling towards the floor, eyes gazing upward in the moment of death. Across the room a nurse comforted her crying mother.

According to UN estimates last month the majority of those killed in the war have been women and children: 13,000 children, 9,000 women.

The US doctor wants to see a concerted push to get more aid into the north.

"The north just needs more access, it needs more food, more fuel, more water, the roads need to be openedā€¦ And there are so many patients that need to be evacuated from the north to the south and the problem is the south is also busy. I mean, the hospitals here are exploding."

Well actually, if you read the article above you'll see that the UN blames the Israeli government.

Well actually, if you read the article below you'll see that the UN is investigating their own UN personnel for being involved with the attack by HAMAS on Oct. 7th against Israeli civilians.

Is that the pro-Israel guy who turned up at a Gaza protest and demanded he and his camera crew be allowed to walk straight through the middle of the protest, then started crying about it when the police said no?

Authorizing the transshipment of weapons in violation of the Arms Export Control Act carries a prison sentence of up to 20 years.

A coalition of lawyers domestic and abroad ā€” including at least 20 that work in the Biden administration ā€” are calling on President Joe Biden to halt military aid to Israel, arguing that its actions in Gaza do not comply with U.S. and international humanitarian law.

They plan to send a letter arguing their case to Attorney General Merrick Garland and general counsels across the administration in the coming days. In the letter, obtained by POLITICO, the lawyers contend that Israel likely violated U.S. statutes including the Arms Export Control Act and Leahy Laws as well as the Geneva Conventions prohibiting disproportionate attacks on civilian populations.

The group that drafted the letter includes current attorneys from the Department of Homeland Security and the State Department. While the letter is still circulating for signatures, so far more than 90 lawyers have signed on, including from the departments of Justice, Labor and Energy, along with lawyers at the European Commission and in the private sector.

Yup:

The Israeli government believes that the international criminal court (ICC) in The Hague is about to file war crimes charges against Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials. We canā€™t know for sure ā€“ the ICC has kept its plans close to the vest ā€“ but the Israeli prime minister has good reason to worry, and the defenses he has offered so far are unlikely to help him.

The ICC chief prosecutor Karim Khanā€™s most likely target is Netanyahuā€™s starvation strategy for Palestinian civilians in Gaza. Because the Israeli government has refused to let ICC staff enter Gaza, it will take time for Khan to complete the detailed investigation required to demonstrate other possible Israeli war crimes, such as indiscriminately bombing civilian areas and firing on military targets with foreseeably disproportionate civilian consequences. But the facts surrounding Israelā€™s obstruction of humanitarian aid are readily available.

Cue this thread's IDF shills ranting that the UN, ICC, Amnesty International, Red Cross and pretty much every other credible international authority may have accused Israel's government of committing war crimes in Gaza, but they're all wrong and Gazan babies deserve to get bombed because Hamas is bad.

Not true Saxi, but we can only expect the same old same old revisionist history from you.

I was hoping for some type of police brutality last night, but we got to see a well behaved removal of protesters who have no clue. The protesters did do a lot of vandalism in the building they occupied. These privileged kids who got arrested last night will find themselves looking for new Universities to spread their nonsense and good luck in finding work with a police record.

Progressive Democrats are denouncing the brutality of Biden stormtroopers in assaulting pro-peace youth and students. Not a good look when you're in the middle of a historic loss of the youth vote.

Meanwhile, reporters are claiming the stormtroopers were also assaulting and limiting access to journalists.

These shrills were escorted gently to the buses in handcuffs. Obviously you did not watch it LIVE on TV.

AOC comments were made prior to the arrests of these privileged, wannabee freedom fighters. Besides that the University asked the police to remove these vandals.

What's the matter Saxi? Doesn't your Kremlin handlers pay for your cable news programming?

More progressive Democrats are denouncing Biden's anti-youth, anti-peace old man rhetoric as giving a greenlight to his fascist stormtroopers to attack and brutalize America's students and youth:

The HAMAS supporters at UCLA pulled down the American Flag and replaced it with the Palestinian Flag. Fuk them, let them go to GAZA and fight for their cause.

Fortunately, youth peace protesters unjustly arrested have all been bailed out of jail thanks to the support of the National Bail Out Fund, which was heavily capitalized with money during the BLM protests to allow freeing social justice activists. Kamala Harris was instrumental in raising money for NBOF.

Meanwhile, more progressive Democrats are attacking the unjust thuggery of the Zionist shock troops against peaceful youth activists. They are calling for all police operations against campus peace activists to immediately stop and for universities to immediately meet all of the activists' demands and terminate institutional relations with Israel.

These comments were made before they found out about the destruction and vandalism done at Colombia University. Again the New York Police were very civilized and repeated warnings to leave.

It was the University that wanted the police to stop these law breakers, of which some were not even students and who were known agitators.

There are legal and safe ways to protest, without interfering with University business of teaching these candy-ass students.

Your hero Trump would of used unrestrained violence and filled the hospitals with Palestinian supporters dead and wounded. Plus filled the jails with fresh meat for their cell mates. I really doubt that a troll like you, would of cared about these privileged youths being butchered by the MAGA regime.

Man, Biden supporters sure hate -- and I mean absolutely revile -- progressives, youth, Muslims, and Black Americans. Seems like a bad strategy since that's basically 90% of their voting base. Oh well. Not my prob!
