The video of this crime is horrific and this seems to be a random attack by a career criminal who should NOT be on the streets:

A video released on Friday by the Charlotte Area Transit System shows Ms Zarutska seated on a train when she is stabbed from behind several times in what appears to be a random attack.

The suspect, 34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr, is charged with first-degree murder. The graphic video has circulated on social media, attracting the attention of influencers, commentators and politicians.

Republicans and right-wing commentators have raised questions about the role of the judicial system in the incident, including why Brown was free despite reportedly having an extensive criminal record.

He was convicted of armed robbery, felony larceny and break and enter, according to records obtained by CNN, and spent eight years in jail for robbery with a dangerous weapon. He also suffers from mental health issues and is homeless, according to media reports.

In her statement, Mayor Lyles said that a solution is needed "to address repeated offenders who do not face consequences for their actions and those who cannot get treatment for their mental illness and are allowed to be on the streets".

Auburn professor stabbed to death while walking her dog in Alabama park; man charged with murder

A retired professor at Auburn University was stabbed to death over the weekend in a park near the Alabama college campus, according to Auburn Police and the university. A man has been arrested and charged in her murder.

Julie Gard Schnuelle, 59, was attacked Saturday morning in Auburn's Kiesel Park, which the city says is a large green space with a walking trail that stretches for just over two miles. She had gone to the park to walk her dog, which was later found unharmed, CBS News affiliate WRBL reported.

"College of Veterinary Medicine Professor Emerita Julie Gard Schnuelle, DVM, Ph.D., was killed Saturday, Sept. 6, in Kiesel Park in Auburn, Alabama.

Schnuelle had suffered injuries that indicated "the death was caused by an assault," Auburn Police said, and the county coroner told WRBL that evidence was consistent with trauma sustained from a sharp object, potentially a knife, according to the station. The coroner said the body would undergo a full autopsy exam, WRBL reported.

Auburn Police arrested Montgomery resident Harold Rashad Dabney, 28, in connection with the fatal stabbing on Sunday, the department said. He was charged with two counts of capital murder, including one for kidnapping and another for robbery, as he allegedly stole Schnuelle's Ford F-150 truck, which was parked in the area, to leave the scene after the attack, according to police.

At least seven people have been killed and 12 others have been wounded in weekend shootings across Chicago.

The ages of the victims range from 15 to 57.

Here are two of many incidents in this report:

At 3:46 a.m., in the 5500 block of West Thomas Street, police officers responded to a call of a burglary in progress involving a vehicle. Three suspects got into a sedan and fled south on Waller Avenue before intentionally crashing into two marked CPD squad cars near Waller and Chicago Avenue. One officer was pinned inside their vehicle and opened fire, shooting one of the suspects, who was taken to Stroger Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. One other suspect was arrested at the scene, but a third suspect escaped. Police recovered a gun that the third suspect discarded at the scene.

At 11:05 p.m., police were called to the Shell gas station at 45 N. Western Ave. to find a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head. A witness said two people exited a black sedan, shot the victim, got back in the car, and left. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

While declining to comment on the specifics of the case, Mecklenburg County District Attorney Spencer Merriweather outlined the challenges of holding defendants with mental health issues accountable for their actions.

In an interview with Axios, he said many are held in hospitals while courts wait for them to be mentally able to stand trial.

What we do not learn is how to best deal with those with severe mental issues who are also violent. We do not know how to best deal with mental illness to keep others relatively safe.

There was a case in VA where a man with mental issues died at a mental hospital; those law enforcement and mental hospital aides were charged with a crime. Fortunately, those charges were not pursued and the two taken to court were ultimately not prosecuted:

The FBI accessed these devices—held by the Biden White House—without an initial warrant, relying instead on cooperation from the White House Counsel’s office under Dana Remus and Jonathan Su. Only after securing the phones in May 2022 did agents draft a search warrant to extract data, a sequence that suggests a “fish first, justify later” approach to evidence collection.

The scope of the investigation was staggering. Within weeks of its initiation on April 13, 2022, the FBI coordinated with 13 field offices, conducted dozens of interviews and spent approximately $16,000 in taxpayer funds over four days in June 2022 to pursue leads nationwide. Judge who reviewed James Comey's indictment was confused by prosecutor's handling of case, transcript shows

If there was any doubt that this is a POLITICAL move to try to exact REVENGE by Trump, who is famous for such things as petty politics by a sore loser, simply look at the FACTS. Now that he has some authority, Trump is trying to make life difficult for his biggest critics. I have not followed this case that closely, but I am sure the former prosecutor, Erik Siebert, resigned who originally handled this case, did NOT want to prosecute Comey. This was done to avoid missing the deadline as the statue of limitation was rapidly approaching.

The charges against Comey — which accuse him of lying in testimony he gave to the Senate in 2020 — mark an unprecedented step for the Justice Department, after President Trump publicly urged prosecutors to look into the ex-FBI leader that he fired in 2017 and sparred with for years.

In an unusual move, Comey's indictment was personally signed by Halligan, not a rank-and-file federal prosecutor. Halligan was sworn in on Monday, after days of upheaval in the U.S. attorney's office in Alexandria.

The former head of the office, Erik Siebert, announced his resignation on Friday following worries among his staff that he could be fired for failing to criminally charge another Trump adversary, New York Attorney General Letitia James. A day later, Mr. Trump announced Siebert had been fired, and posted a message suggesting Attorney General Pam Bondi should look into Comey, James and a third longtime Trump foil, Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff of California.

Kamala has never acknowledged her role in propping up a FAILED Leader who SHOULD not have RUN for re-election in 2024. I want to know who authorized Biden to Debate Trump in June of 2024. That event convinced even the biggest skeptics (of his decline) and even Biden's most ardent supporters (outside Jill and Hunter) of the absolute RIDICULOUS attempt to prop up Feeble Senile Old Joe for a re-election bid.

But Harris acknowledges in the book that it was "recklessness" to leave the decision of whether Biden should drop out to the Bidens themselves. "It should have been more than a personal decision."

In an interview on MSNBC Monday night, Harris admitted, "I have and had a certain responsibility that I should have followed through on. … When I talk about the recklessness, as much as anything, I'm talking about myself."

Harris notes that throughout her run, she struggled to distance herself from Biden and his legacy — like when she told ABC's The View that she wouldn't have done anything different than Biden in their years in office.

Now we learn that another apparent nut job, or crazy person, as I call them, kills people from a boat as he shoots up a dock area in North Carolina. As of now, I am not sure authorities have arrested this crazed person.

As I said elsewhere, the actions of a crazy person proves little, other than that they are CRAZY.

Also, as I have said already, in America, we have:
1) too many guns;
2) too many guns in the hands of criminals;

NORTH CAROLINA 3 killed, several injured in Southport, NC after active shooter reported, officials say

Three people were killed and at least six were injured in Southport after someone on a boat fired into a crowd at an outdoor restaurant at the marina, Police Chief Todd Coring said Saturday night.

ChyAnn Ketchum, Southport’s spokesperson, initially told The Wilmington Star News and WECT that eight were injured at the shooting at Southport’s Yacht Basin. At a news conference after midnight, Coring updated the number of injured to “possibly six” people who were sent to hospitals.
