Spanish Armada strategy/tips ?

First time player of Spanish Armada (random) . I have been studying the map a bit and for a first time player it is a bit crazy. Anyone have any simple strategy/tips they can share to make the map a little easier for a first timer ?

Get your treasuries as a priority, then complete the ship. After that I'm useful as shit.

If you're playing poly or teamgames, stack everything on one person and try to hit them before they hit you. And of course as IamCaffeine mentions, focus on treasuries first.
Regional bonuses are usually useless unless you're playing multiplayer.

PS: don't forget the losing conditions, A lot of players do seem to forget it.

Ditto.

If you're playing Trench, you can complete the ship even before completing the treasuries.

After that the priority is their ships rather than just general territory gain. Once you have their ship, use it to take their territories.

Thanks guys. Just these couple of tips were actually quite a bit of help. You forced me to look at the map a bit differently and I might even have a plan now. This particular game is standard,flat rate,fog. Seems like a very cool map, but it is also a little overwhelming when you first see it, there is a lot to think about.

Do not take neutral ships, not worth it. Take direct paths to see which ships are the enemy and take those ships. Everything is a waste of time. You have to control the treasury.

If it's a multiplayer game then get a small bonus around one of your ships, there are a few. If it's with a round limit under 50 as well, I'd just stack.
