Funny, but that was exactly my idea too after first read.

But, after rereading it a few times i think (i feel) EW agrees with this:

He (Halrob) came up with a weird tale D1, with zero pressure on him, that was easily dismantled by town, so even scum had to vote him D1 in order to appear town. All I'm saying is that he seems capable of shooting himself in the foot. And I feel like that's what he's doing now.

That way it gives (to me) a total different meaning to the EW post.

And while im posting this i wanna add this because it's living rent free in my head: Ragian saying "so even scum had to vote him D1 in order to appear town".

Hmmmmm :D

There would be no point in hiding something that you can easily find in the mafia archives. Not even if I were to be scum this time round.

Charles or some experienced player,
I Need a clarification about L-1 , L-2 ec thing.
Is it a must follow game rule some one to reveal his/her role when come to L-2 or is it game customory but mandaory ?
And
Can a Town power role holder tell a lie saying he is normal town person who does not have a power role ?
Is it mandatory rule for town to always tell 100% truth ?
.
Because if a player revealed as a power role holder then he/she becoming a easy target for mafia.
.

It was the prison mafia game, but Razor has forgotten halrob on the player's list  Here is his post laying the groundwork for his suicide.

@chana, usually people claim at L-2 because putting someone at L-1 hightens the fear of a speedlynch (or maybe someone is hated townie; a role that requires a majority vote minus one). It is not mandatory, but it is customary. Not claiming at L-2 holds town hostage, so I'd always advocate lynching that person. If not, there's no reason for anyone to claim at any given point the rest of the game.

As for lying as a townie, there is an on-going discussion. Some people adhere to a LaL-policy (lynch all liars), while others - myself included - can see that a lie the right time for the right reason can be beneficial for town.

Given that Halorob is not in L-2 yet and even before my vote which breough him to L-3, he started to sound like a town power role holder.
How can it beneficial for town or him ?

Agreeing with Rag, the extra s was a typo (I think).

I am suggesting credence to the idea that Halrob might hint at being a town power role. I am not suggesting credence that he actually has a town power role, going with what Rag had also said.

I'm kind of thinking someone in thread may be mafia with Halrob setting up associations for him. Nobody seems to consider that he can flip town, only that X or Y will look bad when/if he flips mafia. I see little curiosity about his alignment otherwise from people not named Ragian?

More people about his role than about his alignment. I may be exaggerating a bit.

@chana, I'm also fond of a little lie every now and then but only if it is in my opinion beneficial for town. In my opinion, as town, starting with a mindset of "I will never lie, and if I do than it wasn't on purpose" is a good mindset to get into the game with. As you gain more experience, you can adapt this to lying every now and then to protect someone you trust, or to bait mafia into doing something you want them to do.

The one thing to never lie about is whether you have a guilty or innocent result as an investigative (think cop) role. If you lie and are wrong, the game is just fucked.

One funny instance of lying on purpose is a game with just a cop. You can give "cop cover" by publicly saying who you checked if you were cop. This way, the actual cop can do so too and if he every gets nightkilled the info is all there for thread to see. There's detailed strategy here because mafia knows a cop is fake if they post an innocent result on a member of scum.

Rant over. Lying good, sometimes.

EW - your "I'm kinda thinking someone in the thread may be mafia setting up associations with him" has raised my eyebrow. :-s

Me, Chana, Rag, Sonic at face value gives you a 4 x house odds of being right.
But it also throws scattergun muck, maybe designed to attract townies thinking it sticks on one of us.

A bit too imprecise from you methinks.

I am specifically thinking of a mafia member posting because they are aware that Rob is now on a timer. Do you disagree that it feels like thread already knows he is scum? Do you notice that my posting, too, is setting up associations with a scum Rob flip now?

Anyway somewhere around 1 in 5 will be mafia, so my odds are still slightly lower than random!

I think you are spending far too much time worrying about me, its distracting you from finding who is actually scum/mafia. You need to look to those who complain too much and maybe shout too loud

Thread posting halrob as mafia, by mafia is a subtlety I wasn't considering but it would be clever.
It would have to be executed without disingenuity being detectable, and I personally haven't seen that.
Do you sense specific disingenuity from one of us?

For my part I'm pretty well vote committed to halrob D1 because I see him as viable mafia and the other votes/suspicions are coming from players I'm seeing as edging town.

Active posting and with meaning is a town trait to me, particularly if loud.
But do you have anyone specifically who you want us to look at and if so why them?

I would be looking closer at Sonic and asking questions, he was very quick to put me forward for a lynching without establishing any other reason that I was late coming to town. Most other commentators have been putting forward sensible discussion points so far

Very skilfull mentalism tricks and exercises that use psychology and deduction to make it appear as though you are reading someone's mind. But we both now it's humbug galore  It's designed to be a scattergun and whoever thinks it's about him (as scum) will go in hiding thinking EW is on to me :D

Nice mixing in the real odds too (that around 1 in 5 will be mafia what nobody can deny but more important, everybody will agree on).

That said

Halrob has 50-50 odds flipping scum or town to me. Which is a higher scum % then others have (13 players). But all in all:

A: he was lurking big time at first hence the attraction he self-inflicted
B: then called upon ( and driven in a corner) he said he was "just away" (which can be true) but used by Ragian to highlight the possibility he is indeed scum
C: then he, Halrob, hinted he is a strong town figure (some think it's a ingame strong town PR role he hinted, i think its just global chat reference as he is a GC legend).
D: going silent submarine again

and that's it. Nothing more at this point. He is scum (3P included) or he is not. 50% odds. A basic yes / no scenario. But Halrob sure is everybody's point of entry at this stage.

Sonic always arouses suspicion Halrob - particularly the first time you play with him.
Actually though the fact you are calling him out, whilst it doesn't make me suspect him, would be a logical call out from a town Halrob.
