How do team Games Work?

I'm playing a team game but I don't get it.

Ok so I can fortify my allys territories but what happens about bonuses? So we share the bonus if we both own a continent or do we get no bonus at all?

one person has to own the whole continent in order to get the bonus.

And the game is won when only one team is left, so there's no need to kill each other. Also, no need for both/all team members to be alive in the end, one is enough.
